Gus Atkinson added to the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the field during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test in the Ashes series.
Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell on Saturday.
The touring camp indicated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and required time off the field for further assessment "in the coming hours".
The series decider of the series beginning on 4 January begins on Sunday, 4 January.
