Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The track showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the area was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The track is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
